Hello again, '05s! First, congratulations to Antonio Valla, who is the new class council representative. You can check out his bio and more about the position at www.dartmouth.org/~class05/antonio_acrep.php.
Congratulations to Heather Monley, who is moving to N.Y.C. this fall to get an M.F.A. in creative writing at Columbia.
Also heading to Columbia is Liza Williams, who will be studying political science. She's been teaching American and world history at Groton school in Massachusetts and is "glad to be headed back to school to be taught after being on the other side." This summer she'll be traveling across Spain on El Camino de Santiago.
Betty Baez-Melo has returned from the Peace Corps and will be moving to Brooklyn to go to grad school at NYU this fall.
Erin Jordan is living in Fairfax, Virginia, with her husband, Alex Jordan '03. She'll be heading back to school in the near future to get a master's in education in English as a second language. Maybe you'll bump into her in Hanover at graduation, when she'll be up for Alex's five-year reunion.
Sabrina Singh is currently working at the American Chamber of Commerce in Helsinki, Finland, and will be returning to the United States in the fall to study for a master's in education.
Jodie Neukirch is living in Seattle, finishing a master's in pathobiology at the University of Washington. In her spare time she directs Emerald City Swing, a local swing dance troupe.
Jenny Goransson is at George Washington University studying for a teaching certification in secondary education (English). She's also student teaching and has had to convince her students that she is "unfamiliar with this Facebook of which they speak." Good luck with that Jenny.
Tyler Stahl moved to Seattle last August to begin a three-year master's program in pastoral counseling at the school of theology and ministry at Seattle University.
Since graduation Keil Hur has been serving in the Army of the Republic of Korea, and he'll be discharged on June 4. In the fall he'll be attending the University of Michigan to get a law degree.
Michael Lauria dropped me a note to say that he graduated from the U.S. Air Force Pararescue School on March 21 and, after three years of training, has been assigned to the 321st Special Tactics Squadron. He will be stationed in England providing "tactical medical support for military special operations around the world."
Elizabeth Hunt returned from a years deployment in Afghanistan earlier this year, where she earned a Bronze Star.
Morgan Brown wrote to say that he broke his leg skiing in Iceland with Jon Hampton and Rawson Daniel. We hope he was in tip-top shape for his May wedding to Becka Duvall.
Congratulations to Courtney Schenk and Arthur Peterson, who were engaged earlier this year "on a beautiful beach on Lake Malawi." The pair are living in Songea, Tanzania, and volunteering at a community center and plan to move to Ann Arbor, Michigan, during the summer. Let them know if you'll be their new neighbors!
Congratulations are also in order for Kristin Hayden and Marty Hebert, who were engaged on March 1 in Washington, D.C. The pair met in a shmob during freshmen orientation and will probably get married in fall 2009, after Kristin finishes her doctorate in physical therapy from George Washington.
Thanks, everyone! And keep the updates coming!
