Arid news month, but amidst dryness comes a geyser: Matthew Weatherly-White, formerly AWOL, now exuding elan. His cryptic e-mails left me unclear about where he is and exactly what he does. But I know he's one of six founders of the investment advisory firm the Caprock Group. He appears highly happy and somewhat insatiable. In his words: "Adventuring: all over the world (Borneo, Nepal, Cambodia, Tibet, Mexico, Corsica, Iceland, etc.), as much as possible, but it's never, never enough. Business: fantastic—beyond imagination. Alaska National Wildlife Reserve: No, but purely out of principle. We need to re-learn the psychology of self-denial, and we may as well start with a place that is as stunningly beautiful as ANWR. The commodity will run out. Far better to deal with it now, rather than later when that choice has been evaporated. Wife: See 'Business.'"

Mini-reunions are in the works for 2009. Jeff Weiss is encouraging all who want to coalesce to offer a get-together, be it for two hours or two days. We '86s are in 49 states and at least 25 other countries. You arrange a place; we'll publicize it on www.dartmouth86. org. E-mail jweiss@vantagepartners.com.

This was a strikeout on my request to hear news from former Sage-Butterfield denizens and former geeks. The effusive among us may be hibernating; they might be on the never-ending simple-yet-seductive Facebook. John Marchiony set up a Dartmouth 1986 group a month ago, and there are now 60 other members, including Andre P. Cramblit, Andrew Getraer, Ann Heidenreich, Bill Ruhl, Cliff Clavin (visit the Marchiony box), Dennis McCooe, Dick Krissinger, Karin Bravin, Kirk LeCompte, Kit Ambrose, Laura Gillespie, Lisa Richardson, Liz Fanlo, Marion Halliday (very good photo), Matt Landa, Meg Carter, Peter Gibson, Rachel Levy Bombara, Raleigh Floyd, Sarah Page, Sarah Ross Wauters (and her horse), Steve Zoldi, Thorn Fries, Tim Ober, Tom Berry, Werner Tillinger.

This column reveals only news that '86s share directly, so there will be no Facebook revelations here. Absent a lot of direct input, the next issue I'll just have to talk about me. Save us all, write.
