Maybelle Drake Huesfon reports that Lisa Richardson joined The L.A. Times editorial board, that Vivian Korthuis Johnson is living in Bethel, Alaska, with Darrell and their two daughters and that John Hueston is now a law partner at Irell & Manella in Newport Beach, California. Maybelle, John and Lisa went sailing at the annual Dartmouth Club of Los Angeles sailing day last fall. Maes pic of her, John, two cute kids and St. Petersburg is the first for an '86 newsletter—go to www.dartmouth86.org/imgg/0031.jpg. The site welcomes all pics—try it yourself.

Also in contact with our SoCal social "Maeven," Chris Giza reports that he indeed truly is a brain surgeon. Chris is also assistant professor in pediatric neurology at UCLA, specializing in traumatic brain injury (TBI). (He should take care of Michael "Kramer" Richards.) Chris' research group studies molecular mechanisms underlying TBI response and possible therapies to improve recovery. His wife, Roseanne, is an intensive care unit nurse at UCLA.They live in Culver City, California, with 3-year-old son Vincent.

From NorCal Amanda Reed wants our benediction for missing reunion: She delivered daugh- ter Jane Whitlow Wyatt two weeks later. (Okay.) She met husband Craig (UVA '90) "whilst carousing in a well-known apres-ski scene at Squaw Valley in January 2004.We married a brief eight months later. There is an active debate as to who was closing whom in this dating process, but clearly I was a pushover for that whole dashing 'Gentleman from Virginia Southern charm. Plus, the guy can really ski, which is a huge bonus." They live in Burlingame, California, and will put baby Jane on skis by age 4. Amanda is a partner in Palomar Ventures, a VC fund in which she invests in early stage technology companies with fellow Dartmouth alum Randy Lunn '73, Tu '75, Th '75.

John Marchiony started one of his dream jobs October 2 as chief marketing officer for FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), the nonprofit founded by Dean Kamen of Segway. FIRST has 125,000-plus K-12 kids who explore topics from nanotechnology to renewable energy to robotics. Go to www.usFIRST.org to see what these aspiring scientists, engineers and innovators are accomplishing.

Jon Underwood launched a trail-building business. "My first project was a 12-mile trail for Alaska State Parks. With characteristic caution I borrowed on credit cards and worked (and climbed) alone in the wilderness all summer. Parks did not fire me, and even paid all the bills I sent them. My office' had a heckuva-yiew. I enjoyed seeing many of you at reunion."

Dave Lampert, Elizabeth and kids Sarah (10), Emma (6) and Daniel (3) are in Sydney, Australia. Dave sees Gordon McNenney, who moved to Melbourne last summer, and recently saw Shep Kopp in Sydney as well. Saw John Giesser and family in Boston last fall. "All '86s and other alums welcome to look me up in Sydney; dlampert@ cch.com.au."

Lampert's will be the first and last e-mail address printed here for the next five years. Andrea Lordan, Bruce Chafee, Jeff Weiss and I want to encourage more robust use of www.dartmouth86.org. There you'll see photos, the full '86 unplugged newsletter and mini-reunions. We want to make dartmouth86.org a vibrant communication site, better than You Tube. Only minor editing is used, such as that mini-reunion invitation from the '86 who is tight with Hugh Hefner and invited us all to the Playboy Mansion. Alas, instead of partying in Hefs Grotto with all the models, we can still publicize: Boston mini-reunion—hosted by Marchiony— and Aspen mini-reunion—hosted by Greenstein.
