At year-end Norm Sylvester unveiled early plans for the May 4-6 mini- reunion in Williamsburg, Virginia, that hed cooked up with Jim Spence, who lives there. Norm and Jim were looking for "expressions of interest before we spin more wheels." I hope their efforts are in full spin when you read this in February. Williamsburg's historic, golfing, shopping and other attractions make this a great idea for a great mini in a great spot at a great time of year. Contact Jim or Norm at jrspen@wm.edu or normanni@ comcast.net.

Boiled down, here's Frank Goulds report on his and Noras two-month loop of the USA last fall. They drove the northern route from Lyme, New Hamsphire, through the upper Midwest and into Lewis & Clark country ("lots of elk and buffalo; no bear") with stops for hiking, biking and photo-snapping, crashing with Tom Morse near Portland, Oregon. Thence south through Yosemite to Vegas ("dropping $55 at the slots") and into the desert Southwest, including Mesa Verde. Thence east through Texas to New Orleans and upriver to Memphis (Grand OP Opry, Graceland) and Nashville "for a few beers on Beale Street" before bearing north toward Lyme. Two of the many high points for Frank, the singing photographer, were special tours of Ansel Adams' favorite photo spots in Yosemite and the Barbershop Harmony Society's new HQ in Nashville. Frank's sumup: "Saw a lot, did a lot, ate too much—very worthwhile!"

This amusing tidbit from Joe Blake, who attended the 50th with daughter Annie: 'Annie overheard some women commenting on our guys' wives: 'Oh, look at that one—she has to be a second wife!' and 'Obviously that's a third wife!' Then they wheeled on Annie and asked, 'Which one are you?'Without missing a beat she replied, 'I'm a first, but not his!' "

Speaking of reunions, Joanne and Cack Bittner told us over lunch recently about the 50th of another class that graduated in Hanover—the '58 Mary Hitchcock nurses. Joanne and "about half" of her class of 40-50 convened in September, but downriver in New London, New Hampshire, since Maiy Hitchcock and the nursing school are gone from Hanover—complete with a dinner cruise on Lake Sunapee. "I remembered a host of the gals," said Cack, "having spent a lot of time at Billings Lee, as my GPA attested."

Linda and John Trimble were in Hawaii last fall to root home daughter Dede Griesbauer, a professional triathlete, in the Ironman World Championships. Dede’s Web site www.dede-griesbauer.com lists lots of wins and high finishes since she quit Lehman Brothers in 2005 to compete, coach and counsel full time. Said John: “We had a spectacular trip made all the better by Dede’s 10th place finish—one of only three top-10 finishers from 2007 who repeated.” Linda and John toasted the New Year on the Cape with Carolyn and John Otis, Scottie and Walt Vail, and Bob Eleveld and Michelle McIsaac.

Thanks to John Murphy for running the post-reunion book correction I sent him in The Sound and Fury. We'd both misidentified his great photo of Diane and Jerry Thompson as Kitty and Leon Goodrich. We also owe Jane Yusen an apology—I for blowing her I.D., he for misnaming her.
