Scott Marber writes: "A group from Lord Hall classes of '78-' 80 got together on Cape Cod for a mini-reunion of our own in mid-November. We rented a house for the weekend and sent a call to old friends from the last dorm in the Gold Coast. Among those attending were Jeff Levin, Ernie Marmer, Steve McKenna, Ellen (Groetch) LaBerge, Jayne (Heimlich) Conroy, Val Berk, Scott Marber, Doug Rice, Tom Odinak and Sami Fam. We got in touch with many others either leading up to or through obnoxious calls during the weekend. As many of you have undoubtedly experienced, it took all of a minute to get beyond decades apart. After we caught up with the details of our lives it was like we were back in Lord having a great time and solving the problems of the world. We drank a toast to dorm-mates no longer with us such as Stoney Morrell and Ranny Cardozo and reminisced about Edgar, Friday cocktails and the fire ropes that freaked out our parents. No matter how much we might have changed (actually not all that much) the years melted away and we proved anew that old friends are the best friends. Next year Val has offered up her house in upstate New York for what we hope will be an even bigger and better reunion. For any lost Lordies that want to join in feel free to e-mail Scott at smarber1@ comcast.net."

Ellen Meyer Shorb reports: "I accepted the position of director of the positive deviance initiative at Tufts. 'Positive deviance' highlights individuals who are deviant— doing things differently but successfully— to work with others in a community. For example, within a group of malnourished children there are often some children that are better nourished. A positive deviance approach would have the community investigate what those mothers are doing— what they are feeding their children, where they are getting the food, how often do they feed their children, how do they prepare the food—and have these mothers teach others within the community. The approach has been used with challenges as diverse as stemming hospital-spread infections in the United States to the prevention of female genital mutilation in Egypt."

David Ashe and Ted Olson have formed the Ashe and Olson Financial Consulting Group of Wachovia Securities. With more than 35 years of experience, they manage about $100 million of client assets. "We are delighted that an investment team of this caliber has decided to join our firm," said Wachovia Securities managing director Marc Beshany. "The group epitomizes the kind of knowledgeable and highly respected investment professionals who are a credit to our industry, our firm and our clients."

Tom Haynes announces: "My wife gave birth on July 10 to our first child, Antonia Hsu Haynes. I'm starting fatherhood at a time when most of my classmates have children in college (or out of it already) but I'm greatly enjoying it."
