The Dartmouth Asian Pacific American Alumni Association (DAPAAA) N.Y.C. chapter kicked off summer in the city with Friday cocktails at the Rubin Museum of Tibetan Art. Taking part were Joanna Giordano '04, Victoria Moy '03, Ingrid Shieh '96, Dianne Choie '04, Alice Lam '02, Jack Vitayanon '97, Francine Rubin '02, Melissa Fedders '02, Amit Anand '03 and Beatrice Hahn '06. The Boston chapter held a dim sum showdown with Princeton. Representing Dartmouth were Mei Lun Quach '07 and Chilann Chan, Th'06. The Dartmouth Association of Latino Alumni Association (DALA) held its first reunion and celebrated its fifth anniversary. As part of the reunion weekend DALA members met with President Kim and alumni relations staff, reconnected with one another and talked with current students. DALA also honored and celebrated the retirement of professor Marysa Navarro, a leading feminist historian on Latin-American studies who joined the department of history in 1968 and has served as an inspiring professor and mentor to four decades of Dartmouth students.

The Black Alumni of Dartmouth Association (BADA) leadership is gearing up for its 2010 reunion, scheduled for Homecoming Weekend October 28-31. The theme is "Embrace the Past, Inspire the Future." Norman Brown '74, BADAs Philadelphia regional representative, writes, "This event has been referred to as our growth event because we here in Philadelphia are mak ing a sincere effort to bring local Dartmouth alums and BADA members back together again." He notes that the Philadelphia organizing is being spearheaded by himself, Verna Cole '80, Maurice Simmons '79, trustee John Rich '80 and "the vibrant new leadership of Jenna Harris '01." In May BADA held an event at the October Art Gallery in Germantown, Pennsylvania, dedicated to professor Bill Cook, and included the creation of a video in which all in attendance took a few moments to say thank you to Professor Cook as a valued member of the Dartmouth AfricanAmerican and Dartmouth College community.

Also in May the Native American Alumni Association of Dartmouth (NAAAD) celebrated a successful Native Americans at Dartmouth studentrun powwow during Mother s Day Weekend in May. NAAAD applauds the students and Dartmouth community for a wonderful time, bringing together current students, wise alums such as Tim Craig '79 and Siobhan Wescott '89 and new alums such as Shawna Whitehat '08 and Melissa Thompson '09. NAAAD was able to interact with current students and the amazing projects they are undertaking, such as the Native Women's Society and Indigenous Living Languages at Dartmouth (http://indigenouslivinglanguages. wordpress.com). NAAAD also held its annual meeting, at which new officers were elected, including secretary Aaron Sims '09 and Alumni Council representative Hilary Abe '08. NAAAD is currently engaged with the Native community at Dartmouth to plan for the landmark 40th anniversary of the Native American Program starting this coming fall. Dartmouth Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Alumni/ae Association (DGALA) celebrated its annual mini-reunion in Hanover in June. More than 50 alumni were in attendance, including Deb Whitney '96, Karin Wilinski '89, Susan Kahil '80, Katherine Moneiro '85, Casey Clark '85, Mickey Carter '83 and Sarah Morton '05. DGALA also teamed up with the Dartmouth Club of Chicago to participate in the annual Chicago Pride March.
