Record Returns

Alumni poured into Hanover for reunion season in June, as evidenced by a snaking traffic jam on the Friday preceding the final weekend of celebrations. Five classes broke attendance records as 2,666 alumni—also a new high—returned to campus. Most notably, the class of 2008 broke the fifth-reunion record with more than half the class in attendance. The Green hosted an array of events, from Big Apple Circus acts and the Blues Brothers Revue to sing-alongs and an evening fireworks show. President Phil Hanlon ’77 kicked off his first week in office by visiting reunion tents and gatherings. “We’re thrilled to welcome so many sons and daughters of Dartmouth back home,” said Martha Beattie ’76, vice president for alumni relations. “It’s really a testament to the magic of this place and the everlasting affection we feel for it.”
