The president has appointed a new provost. Carolyn Dever, dean of the college of arts and science at Vanderbilt University, will start her new job July 1. Dever is a scholar of gender studies and 19th-century British literature and culture.

ANNOUNCED

Robinson Hall will serve as home for a new center for the prevention of sexual assault and violence. The center for community action and prevention will be led by Amanda Childress, the campus sexual assault awareness program coordinator.

REMEMBERED

Heorot plans to create a Torin Tucker ’15 award in honor of the cross-country skier who died during a race February 1. The Greek house will present it annually to a member who exemplifies Tucker’s values in academics, athletics and building community.

FRIENDS IN HIGH PLACES

1 Tuck’s rank among business schools for its alumni networking, according to student surveys conducted by The Economist magazine.

MELTDOWN The College purchased 880 tons of salt to combat ice and snow this past winter, an increase of more than 350 tons from the previous year.
