[NEW FINDINGS AND RESEARCH]
Heavy Viewing Televisions cause obesity?
A study by diane gilbert-diamond of the Geisel School of Medicine found that televisions in adolescents’ bedrooms contribute to weight gain. She found that 10-to-14-year-olds with bedroom televisions gained a pound per year more than peers without them. Ridding bedrooms of televisions “is an important step in our nation’s fight against child obesity,” says Gilbert-Diamond.
Well Done Early Greeks grilled out.
The mycenaean civilization, which thrived in Greece during the late Bronze Age, left behind clay objects that resemble trays and grills. Classics professor Julie Hruby worked with a ceramicist to carefully recreate the cookware and conduct a grilling experiment. her “kitchen research” demonstrated how Mycenaeans cooked meat—on skewers atop a portable grill—and baked bread on perforated griddles, long before the non-stick baking sheet.
