The annual meeting and dinner of the Thayer Society of Engineer, held at the rooms of the Dartmouth C'ub of New York on January 14, was the largest and most enthusiastic in the history of the society. The reports of the treasurer showed a balance on hand equal to that of last year; this balance, in addition to paying for the publication of the Thayer School Annual, leaves a surplus sufficient to meet the various obligations of the school and to cover the deficit of the school's running expenses. The speakers at the dinner included Professor Robert Fletcher, Director of the Thayer School, Mr. Mathewson of the Board of Trustees, and Mr. Snow of the Board of Overseers.
In connection with this meeting, the Director of the school announces a generous gift of several hundred dollars from Mr. George F. Hardy '88, to be used in equipping more fully the laboratory of the Thayer School. Mr. Hardy, one of the leading mill and hydraulic engineers of the country, for many years has had graduates of the Thayer School in his employ.
