Lieutenant T. Cushman Nathan of Newton, Mass., Aviation Service, was killed in a flying accident at a training camp in Scotland, March 20. Nathan should have been commissioned some months ago, but there was delay in sending papers, which he received only on Wednesday before he died.
He was graduated in 1915 from Newton High School, where he was prominent in athletics, and spent one year at Dartmouth College, later transferring to Massachusetts Institute of Technology. At Technology he was president of the class of 1920.
When the United States entered the war Nathan enlisted in the aviation branch of the Army and received his ground training at Miami, Fla. Later his training took him to Berkeley, Cal., Oxford and Stamford, England, and Ayr, Scotland. He was at Ayr when he received his commission.
