John H. Dunlap has been elected secretary of the American Society of Civil Engineers. The position is that of executive officer of the society, the leading engineering organization of America, and carries a salary of about $8,000. The election, which requires a two-thirds vote of the executive board, was made after a vigorous contest between progressives and reactionaries, in which the progressives were successful.
