A thought while waiting for the man with the jumper cables on this 22 degree below zero morning. Was it this cold in the winter of 60? Probably was, but the internal anti-freeze was no doubt better or maybe our tolerance to that anti-freeze was better.

Those of you in the New York City area who watch the Robert MacNeil Report on WNET (13) have no doubt seen the name of Howard Weinberg on the credits. Howard is now a producer of that weeknight news analysis program, and comes to the position well prepared, having broad experience in both the print and broadcast media. He's been very active as a producer and is the recipient of several awards including a New York area Emmy for the production of the "Good Old Days at City Hall."

Guess I'd forgotten that Dave deWilde is toiling for Uncle Sam, in the Housing and Urban Development Department. In any event he's now the acting assistant secretary in charge of Section 8. In case you've been worried about a section 8, it's a new development in the housing industry and is found in the Housing and Community Development Act by which housing is provided to the poor through rent subsidy rather than construction subsidy which was the previous procedure. So those of you out there in the construction business, get your lobby together and contact Dave. Don't suppose he's been under any pressure from that industry do you?

Your scribe traveled up to Hanover for a Dartmouth-UNH hockey game. Thought you might like to know that the new arena is fantastic, and it's warm. Word is that in addition to hockey and basketball, the facility can handle Commencement and other large college functions.

Still waiting for the mail, fellows.
