Possibly with the intention of combatting the growing undergraduate aversion to competitions, the Dartmouth chapter of Pi Delta Epsilon, honorary journalistic fraternity of which Dr. Hopkins is national president, distributed this fall a booklet giving in detail the work of the various publications and the benefits and experience offered by each. The active head of each organization wrote the article concerning his paper and publishing expenses were borne jointly by Pi Delta Epsilon and the publications.
The effect on undergraduate competitions of the campus "intellectualism" which developed last year is being observed with interest by many. The more rapid evolution of the campus publications to almost professionally managed papers is a possibility which the members of Pi Delta Epsilon seem to be trying to forestall.
