As was desired the freshman eleven reached the crest of its form at Princeton on Friday, November 14, when the Tiger freshmen were taken into camp 14-0 in the objective game of the 1928 season. Captain McPhail returned to the lineup as a starter and gave a remarkable exhibition of all-around football. The 1928 leader scored all of his team's points, making a long run through almost the entire Orange and Black team for the first touchdown and carrying the ball across from the one-yard line in a terrific plunge for the second tally. He kicked both of the goals.

Although the Tiger defense was stronger than the score would indicate, Dartmouth missed two other touchdown chances and two field goal opportunities while the Nassau yearlings failed to pass the Dartmouth 20-yard line. Hazelton made but two substitutions.
