Forty-two men turned out for the annual dinner of the Southern California Alumni Association of Dartmouth College at the University Club in Los Angeles on Saturday evening. April 5. The showing of one of the Outing Club films and of a film taken by E. D. Martin 'O9 depicting bits of the Harvard and Cornell football games last fall and of some of the college buildings at Hanover constituted the chief feature of the evening. There were no set speeches, but C. G. Milham, secretary of the Association, gave details of the success of the first national Pow Wow at Chicago, and told something of what he found on a recent trip to Hanover. A committee consisting of Messrs. Brock, Adams and Shaw, appointed to draw up resolutions on the death of Dr. T. Bates Cook '96 M, presented the following, which was unanimously adopted:
Resolved, that the members of the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Southern California feel most deeply the loss that has befallen them by reason of the recent death of one of the Association's most estimable and beloved members, Dr. T. Bates Cook. Further resolved that the Secretary of this Association be requested to forward a copy of this resolution to the widow of Dr. Cook, together with an expression of our deepest sympathy.
Messrs. Brackett, Hiestand, and Salinger, appointed as a nominating committee by the retiring president, R. B. Merrill, reported the following nominations: president, Dr. George P. Laton; first vice-president. J. Leland Richardson ; second vice-president. E. W. Hiestand; secretary-treasurer, C. G. Milham. The nominees were unanimously elected.
A committee consisting of Messrs. Salinger, Hiestand, Shattuck, Merrill, and Hitchcock was appointed by the new president to arrange for a spring picnic for the Association.
A son arrived in the household of John J. Troy 12 on the day of the Association's annual meeting, and flowers were sent by the Association to Mrs. Troy.
