CHICAGO ASSOCIATION

During the past month, the Chicago Association has organized and put into effect a campaign to acquaint the alumni in the Middle West with the purpose and workings of the Alumni Fund. The name of the committee is the Alumni Fund Information Committee for the Middle West, and Warren Agry '11 is chairman. The main purpose of the committee is not to raise money for this year's fund, but rather to restore contact with the large number of men who have been out of touch with the College and its activities. It is felt that it is of greater importance to renew the interest of such men than to secure large contributions from a small number of old stand-bys.

At the luncheon meeting of June 2, a kitchen shower was held for Jimmie Vail, who the next day was exchanging the freedom of bachelor life for the shackles of matrimony. Nobody thought of bringing a wash-boiler, but a careful check shows that every other large piece of kitchen equipment was represented.

At the May S meeting, Isaac J. Cox '96, professor of history at Northwestern University, gave us a very illuminating talk on present day problems in Latin America. He brought out considerable information concerning relations between our country and Latin American countries, with which we were not familiar, and gave us an insight into the feelings of the people in those countries towards the United States.

The most important item of information concerning the doings of the Chicago Association is the golf tournament to be staged at Hammond, Indiana, on July 16. A! large crowd is going down there, and, if previous tournaments are anything to go by, there will be considerable doing. It is perhaps known that "Laddie" Myers of this association is now in Paris with the Olympic team.
