GALLAGHER SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED FOR 1924-25

Karl Friedman, of Reading, Pa., captain of the 1924 Dartmouth basketball team," and John Howe Fuqua, of Chicago, 111., have been awarded the Morrill Allen Gallagher Memorial Scholarships at Dartmouth for 1924-25.

These scholarships, of $6OO are based on a gift of $25,000 made by, Mrs. Kate M. Morse, of Boston, and are awarded annually on the basis of the awards of the Rhodes scholarships, taking into consideration qualities of manhood, force of character and leadership, literary and scholastic ability and attainments, and physical vigor as shown by participation in outdoor sports or in other ways.

Friedman has been a member of the Dartmouth basketball team for the past two seasons and is one of the leading students of the College. He attained a scholastic average during the first semester of the present year of 3.8 representing grades of A in five courses and B in one course. He is a member of the class of 1925 and of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity.

Fuqua, a freshman at Dartmouth was halfback of last season's Dartmouth freshman football team and is a member of the freshwan track team. He received a scholastic average last semester of 3.1.
