Dartmouth fared well in the Intercollegiate Golf Tournament held at Greenwich, Conn., June 24-29, when W. H. Taft '25, reached the final round in individual play only to be defeated by Dexter Cummings, Yale's golfing prodigy who successfully defended the championship crown that he won from Rudy Knepper last year. Taft qualified rlext to lowest and eliminated Merritt of Pennsylvania, 2 up, Byrne of Columbia, 3 and 2, and Upson of California, 2 and 1, before bowing to Cummings, 5 and 4.
After qualifying twenty-fifth out of thirtyfour qualifiers, J. M. Batchelder '26, defeated Shannon of Princeton, 4 and 3, but succumbed to Berrien of Wesleyan in the second round, 4 and 3. Capt. F. E. Sheehy '24, and R. A. Henry '24, were each defeated in the first round, Sheehy by Comstock of Wesleyan, 5 and 4, and Henry by Upson of California, 6 and 5.
The Dartmouth team, composed of Taft, Sheehy, Henry and Batchelder won second in the team score with a gross of 1,279 for seventy two holes. Yale was first with 1,264; Harvard third with 1,292; Princeton fourth with 1,294; Syracuse fifth with 1,346; Williams sixth with 1,354; Pennsylvania seventh with 1,366, and Wesleyan eighth with 1,426.
