Reverend Fred W. Knickrehm arrived in Hanover Saturday to take up his position as assistant to Reverend R. B. Chamberlin, pastor of the White Church, whose new duties in connection with the College Chapel have necessitated the securing of an aid.
The work of the new pastor will consist of religious education in the church, supervision of the services in the Nugget and assistance in the chapel and in the pulpit of the White Church. He has also been invited by the Dartmouth Christian Association to conduct discussion groups and do outside pastoral work.
Mr. Knickrehm is a native of Los Angeles and a graduate of the University of Southern California, class of '19, where he played varsity football and basketball. After graduation he decided to enter the ministry and came east to the Boston University School of Theology where he received his S.T.B. in 1923. Since then he has been working for his Ph.D. in Biblical Literature at the graduate schools of Harvard and Boston University.
During the last five years the Reverend Mr. Knickrehm has served at two different churches while pursuing his studies in Boston. For three years he served in East Bridgewater, Mass., and since then he has been acting as pastor at the SomerfieM Church in Fall River, Mass., traveling to Boston four days a week to study. While serving here he will continue to visit Boston once a week.
