Fall Council Meeting
November 1932

The annual fall meeting of the Dartmouth Alumni Council held at the Dartmouth Club, New York city, October 28, was devoted largely to a discussion of better alumni communications. The principal speakers were President Hopkins, Dean E. Gordon Bill, John C. Sterling '11, James D. Landauer '23. The Council convened in the morning, adjourning at noon for luncheon at the Club, following which the business session was continued until late afternoon. Members of the Council, both active and inactive, and their wives were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Basil O'Connor at tea Friday afternoon.

The conference of the Council with President Hopkins marked another of the almost uninterrupted series of appearances of the President at Council meetings since the first meeting of this organization in 1913. Dean Bill was asked to speak to the Council on the Selective Process, especially on the system of Junior Selections recently inaugurated, and the work of the Council in interviewing applicants for admission. Mr. Sterling, chairman of the 1933 Alumni Fund committee, reported on plans for the coming campaign. The problems o£f the New York Alumni Association and a discussion of its activities were the subjects of Mr. Landauer's talk before the Council.

William J. Minsch '07, newly elected president, presided at the meetings. This was the first meeting for the several new councilors who are: Benjamin W. Couch '96, Frank J. Reagan '09, Whitney H. Eastman '10, John C. Sterling '11, Lloyd K. Neidlinger '23, Ford H. Whelden '25.
