Saturday Morning Session
December, 1925

The meeting was called to order at 9:45 a.m. at the Architect's Club. The only business for this session was the reception of President Hopkins by the Council and his address to them. Among the matters stressed in the president's remarks were the operation of the Selective Process in its search for all-round material; the value to the College of the report by Professor L. B. Richardson, as well as its influence on educational thought throughout the country; the development of the college plant, with particular reference to the proposed new library, and the situation with reference to admission with the arguments for the certificate system as opposed to an exclusively examination system. Those who were privileged to hear President Hopkins felt themselves brought at once into touch with the intimate problems of administration and instruction, and enlightened as they could be in no other way. Following the discussion aroused by this address it was moved and

Voted: That the Council extend to President Hopkins its thanks and heartiest appreciation of his willingness to meet and discuss with them the affairs of the College.

The Council then adjourned to meet at luncheon in the Architect's Club as the guests of the two Chicago members of the Council, Guy H. Abbott and Warren C. Agry.
