GREEK HONOR DECORATION BESTOWED ON PROF MESSER

Announcement was recently made from the Greek legation in Washington of the bestowal on Prof. William Stuart Messer of the gold cross of officer of the Order of the Redeemer in recognition of services rendered to Greece. The decoration was authorized by the foreign office at Athens under date of September 27, 1924.

The Order of the Redeemer is the Greek legion of honor and as in the case of the legion in France, is the only Greek order. It grew out of an honorary decoration instituted by the national assembly at Argos in 1815, and was established in its present form by King Otto 1., in 1833, in commemoration of the deliverance Of Greece.
