GRID CANDIDATES START SPRING PRACTICE
April, 1925

All football men who are not engaged in any other athletics have started light spring training. This training, under the supervision of the track department, will continue through spring. Fifteen to thirty minute workouts will be held on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons. It is not the purpose of this system to start strenuous practice for next fall's football season, but to keep the prospective squad candidates in good physical condition, and to keep them familiar with handling the ball.

L. G. Leavitt '25 and N. K. Parker '26, captain of next year's varsity squad, will be in direct charge of the training. Detailed personal records of each man's progress are to be kept, and a weekly report will be sent to Coach Jess Hawley, in order to get an idea of prospects for next fall. Coach Harry Hillman will oversee the workouts and will devote his time to developing speed among candidates. Individual contests will be held at various times throughout the winter and spring, and a number of prizes for passing, speed and carrying the ball will be awarded in these contests. It is planned, during the interclass track meets in the spring, to run several events for football men only.
