A five minute overtime period in which Princeton scored and Dartmouth did not gave victory to the Tigers at Hanover on February 28 and, as future events showed, had an unexpected effect on the final league standing. The extra session followed forty minutes of as tense basketball as has been seen in the Alumni Gym.
Both teams came on the floor with six straight victories to their credit. Since neither wished to besmirch this record, the first half was slow and somewhat marred by the overcautiousness of both quintets.
Early in the second period, Friedmann tied the score at 14 all with a pretty field goal. The contest immediately became anybody's game. The lead see-sawed back and forth with neither team ever more than two points ahead. Every point was bitterly contested and the Green five seemed to be gaining a slight advantage because of its better condition. However, when the bell rang neither team had .the advantage and overtime became necessary.
The overtime period was still young when Hynson sneaked in near the Green net and caged a clean basket. This shot seemed to take the heart out of Coach Wachter's hoys who became over anxious and tried futile long shots. Princeton had the ball as the game closed.
The struggle was Dartmouth's last home game. The earthquake which was felt thruout New England on that night was not noticed in the Gym.
