At one time or another during Commencement week, at least five members represented the class in Hanover. Four marched in the procession—Edward G. Bailey, Judge Charles M. Hcsugh, and David Kilburn, as privates in the ranks, while "Carey" Thayer, resplendent in cap and gown, was up in front as trustee. Seth Gage was at the ball game on the previous day.

The recent receipt of contributions to the Alumni Fund almost simultaneously from Charles H. Eaton and Frank A. Newell was a reminder that they frequently acted together back in '75 and '76. They were probably our two strongest men (though there were giants in those days), and when, in a class rush, their hands were on the cane, there never was power enough in '7B to prevail against them. They pulled together in the crew that so ably represented us on the river freshman year. Other members of this crew who are still with us, are Frederick P. Garrettson the captain, Dr. Horace K. Foster, and Dr. Frank G. Wheatley. But for the great snowfall that crushed the roof of the boathouse and brought the Dartmouth navy to sudden and untimely end, they all might have won great aquatic name and fame.

Eaton at the present time is connected with the exploitation of the Sunburst-Kevin oil field out in Montana. Newell lives in Nashua, N. H., and finds an outlet for his sporting instincts through the presidency of the Lone Star Hunters' Club and the secretaryship of the Hillsboro County Fish and Game Association.

On June 24, Harry B. Thayer, the head of the American Telephone and Telegraph Company, delivered an address before the Vermont Historical Society in the hall of the House of Representatives at Montpelier, on "Some Significant Steps in the Development of a Natural Service."

Mrs. Foster R. Clement, nee Lillian Searles of Dtes Moines, lowa, died at her home in Burlington, Vt., June 25. Her only child, Foster R. Clement, Jr., is a member of the class of '27 at Middlebury.
