Gary Johnson is working at IBM in San Jose as an intellectual property licensing engineer for the storage systems division. On December 3 he and his wife, Deborah, welcomed their first son, Carlo, into the family. Carlo arrived three weeks after Gary fell off a ladder cleaning the gutters on his house and broke his arm and his ankle in three places (don't go to those places again). Luckily, he healed well enough to be in the delivery room when Carlo arrived. Gary's family belongs to the same church as Todd (and Laurel) Krein, who have a baby girl named Sofia Maureen (Murphy) Costa is still working at Tideist and Foot-Joy Worldwide as market/sales planning manager worldwide. That translates into a lot of market analysis and "fore"-casting for the golf ball line (golf humor there). Maureen and her husband, Kevin, have two children, Edward 4 and Bridget 2. Our very own newsletter guru John Marchiony reported that with the onset of winter cold and snow, he and his family enjoy skiing and escaping the cold. They ski regularly at Waterville Valley, where the highlight for 3-year-old Samantha is riding the "flying couch." John's wife, Debby '87, has taken up telemarking. John is thrilled to have comfortable boots and to hear Samantha say "faster, faster" as daddy skis with her between his knees! The Marchionys enjoyed their second annual January escape during a week in Antigua.

Mary Gannon has moved to a new house in Belmont, Mass., complete with a funky paint-job, a garden wall in the shape of a question mark, and a theater in the basement. Amanda Reed left Connect Inc. and is on an extended trip to New Zealand and beyond. Melissa (Baten) Caswell and family were busy in 1998. She landed a new job at an Internet start-up in San Francisco, embarked upon a 14-month home construction project with her husband, Lee, and saw her three-year old daughter, Lainie, start school. Melissa gets together with KarenBlodgett when she comes up for air from her job at @Home. Melissa, Karen, and Kristen Thompson helped Jan Su celebrate her October wedding to Richard Chow in Southern California. Other Dartmouth '86 sightings include MikeTonneson and his new wife at a Christmas party in San Francisco. Right before Thanksgiving last year, Trish Augustan, her new husband, Scott, and their puppy hosted a bash in Vail. Party-goers included the Caswells, Susan (Burnley) Moynihan, and Susie (Law) and Bill Hizar. Ken Klemm and his wife welcomed twins, Nicholas Marc and Lauren Marie, on January 4, 1999. Ken is in New Orleans working at a law firm, Lemle & Kelleher, L.L.P. He has already started his Dartmouth "indoctrination program" by purchasing appropriate bibs from the Co-op. Jim Valentine is in the final stages of his doctorate in educational psychology and applied linguistics at UCLA and has been working for the past four to five years as the language coordinator for the international business programs at UCLA's Anderson School. He has come to love living, his life with his partner of 9-1/2 years. During the past year Jim renewed his friendship with Sean O'Hearn on a visit to Seattle and during his subsequent visit to LA

Joel Riggs ran into Jim McCann III, who is living in San Fran and attending medical school after teaching high school French and Spanish in Pacific Heights for a number of years. Rob Popper and his wife, Marta, are proud to announce the birth of baby number two, Ella Barbara, on December 1, 1998. Rob reports that she is a peaceful, happy, beautiful little angel.
