One official intercollegiate record, three Spaulding Pool records, and an unofficial intercollegiate record were washed away during a swimming meet in the Spaulding Pool February 5 in which Yale defeated Dartmouth to 26½. The result of the meet was determined by the final event, the relay race, which scored eight points for the winners. The Yale team which for years has been invincible found the Dartmouth swimmers able to provide the most formidable opposition it has yet encountered.
Bronson, of Yale again shattered the intercollegiate record for the 100 yard swim by covering the distance in S3 9-10 seconds, and in the SO yard event lowered the Spaulding Pool mark to 24 7-10 seconds. In a spectacular 150 yard back stroke race McCaw of Dartmouth, defeated House, of Yale, with a time of 1 minute 48 2-10 seconds. As McCaw's time was caught by only one watch the record, which is lower than the intercollegiate mark, will not stand as official. Luke, of Yale, contributed the third record of the day by swimming the 440 yard race in 5 minutes 24 6-10 seconds.
