The regular monthly meeting for February was held at the Milwaukee Athletic Club on the evening of February 13, 1926. It was the occasion of a visit from Dean Laycock and the annual business meeting for election of officers.
There were present thirty-six members of the Association, prospective undergraduates, and their fathers, making this meeting the one most largely attended in the history of the Association.
Following the dinner, President Ryan called the meeting to order. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. President Ryan gave a short talk dealing with the growth of the Association in the past, and on its future purpose.
The secretary-treasurer next gave the official reports on the year ending January, 1926. Both were accepted as read.
The report of the nominating committee was made by W. H. Eastman, and accepted with the unanimous election of the officers chosen. President Ryan then introduced individually all the members present.
Mr. Eldred '74 was then called on for a few words. He gave a short talk on the colleges of his day as compared with the present time. Professor James O'Neill 'O7, now of the University of Wisconsin, gave a very interesting talk on the differences between the college and the university—practically all the advant- ages favoring the college.
The main speaker of the evening was Dean Laycock, who gave a very interesting summary of the details of his office and the pleasures obtained in carrying them out. The several attempts of the Dean to cut short his talk were stopped by the eagerness of the members to hear more. Several instances of actual problems confronting the Dean and the decision he made in regard to them proved extremely interesting and amusing.
Between the talks all the alumni members of the Association gathered at the piano and gave utterance to several of the old songs. They were lead by Mr. Frederickson at the piano. Lynde Tucker occasionally limbered up and led us in a few cheers.
After a few words of thanks by Jack Ryan, the meeting was adjourned to the next regular meeting of the Association in March, or upon call of the executive committee.
The officers of the Association as elected for 1926 are as follows: president, J. J. Ryan '11; vice-president, L. W. Tucker '09; secretary-treasurer, L. Freeman, Jr. '23; executive committee, J. J. Ryan '11, L. W. Tucker '09, L. Freeman, Jr. '23, W. H. Eastman '10, H. C. Whitaker '96.
