An audience of more than 5000 persons witnessed the unveiling on May 12 at the Hall of Fame on the Campus of New York University of busts of nine of Aimerica's great men in which number was included Dartmouth's most famous graduate, Daniel Webster, of the class of 1801.
The bust of Webster formally placed in the Hall of Fame upon this occasion was the gift of the New Hampshire State Historical Society, whose President, Henry W. Stevens, of Concord, presented it.
George W. Wickersham, former United States Attorney General, who spoke on Webster at the ceremony paid tribute to him as one of the greatest statesman between the times of Washington and Lincoln.
Wreaths which were placed about the bust were contributed by Dartmouth College alumni, alumni of Phillips Exeter Academy, and, in the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, by Governor Alvin T. Fuller, of that state. .
