Through the generosity of the Class of 1901 the College has received an oil portrait of President Ernest Martin Hopkins which completes the group of paintings of Dartmouth Presidents now in the possession of the College. This gift was made by the classmates of President Hopkins as their twenty-fifth anniversary gift to their Alma Mater and it was formally presented to the Trustees at a meeting of the class during commencement.
This portrait is the work of Charles Hopkinson of the Fenway Studio Boston and was on display at the Copley Galleries in Boston. While there it was judged by many prominent art critics to be one of the outstanding portraits exhibited at the galleries.
The class of 1901 has always been outstanding in its generosity toward the College, having contributed large sums to the Alumni Gymnasium, Memorial Field, and has never failed to over subscribe its quota of the Alumni Fund.
