A midsummer letter from Charlie Milham brought welcome news of the West Coast. Charlie had just had the pleasure of a little visit from Cliff and Anne Perry, who were touring the West in their car; from Los Angeles they kept on up the coast to Alaska before turning back towards the home of the bean and the cod.

Accompanied by Tubby Laton, Charlie represented 1906 at the annual picnic of the Southern California Alumni Association of Dartmouth College at the Rancho de los Tres Hermanos on Sunday, July 17.

As for the coming generation, Charlie writes that Charles Van Emburgh Milham has come east to enter Tabor Academy (whose principal is Walter Lillard 'OS) in preparation for hopedfor admission to Dartmouth in 1931.

While on his summer vacation in Maine, Eric Kelly ran across Harold Stanton, news of whom was lacking at the time of our last class report. Of course, Harold is well and thriving, but it is good to know at last just what he ts doing. He holds the position of professor of French in the North Carolina College for Women at Greensboro, N. C., but for the past two years has been on leave of absence and has been employing his time in study for his doctor's degree at Brown University. He completed the work in June, and has now returned to North Carolina to establish a new seminar course, in which the civilization of France is studied through readings and discussions of French literature. He is married and has three children.

Dr. Arthur D. Holmes of the research laboratory of the E. L. Patch Company of Boston presented two learned papers at the recent meeting of the American Chemical Society held at Detroit. The papers were entitled "The Chemical and Physical Characteristics of Cod Liver Oil," and "A Comparison of the Antirachitic Value of Cod Liver Oil and Ultra-violet Light." It must be wonderful to know as much about anything as Arthur does about cod liver oil.

Nat and Mrs. Leverone and their infant daughter have spent the summer at Pistakee Lake, and wound up their vacation with a month's auto tour through the East. Nat expects to be on again at the time of the Harvard game.

Ernest Thompson stopped over in Hanover the last of September on his return from a week's vacation in Quebec, and was delighted at the progress there of the new construction.

Harold Rugg is back on his job in the College Library after seven months abroad. His wellearned vacation tour took in the Mediterranean and the Near East as well as Italy, Switzerland, France, and England.

Your Secretary had a delightful call one July day from his old college roommate, Dr. Arthur Cragin, who with his family was returning to his home in Kingston, N. Y., after a two weeks' vacation spent at Gloucester, Mass.
