Fordham 34—Dartmouth 17

The strong Fordham basketball team which penetrated New England as far north as Hanover met and defeated Dartmouth by the overwhelming score of 34 to 17 in Alumni Gymnasium Jan. 19. The Green team was outclassed in every department of the game and was never within hailing distance of the point total of the New Yorkers. During the entire first period Dartmouth was able to score but one basket from the floor and scored but four field goals during the second half of the encounter.

White, who scored eight points led the Fordham attack, followed by Zakszewski who netted seven, Dougherty, who caged six, and Schneider and Leary whose totals. were four points each. For Dartmouth Captain Picken scored five points, Austin four, Heep three, Ellis and Vossler two each, and Bunge one.

Dartmouth 34—Princeton 25

After a tense fifteen minute half in which both teams battled strenuously to a tie score of 13 points each Captain Picken led his Dartmouth team through a furious second period rally that swept the New Jersey league leaders out of the Intercollegiate League leadership by a score of 34 to 25 in Alumni Gymnasium January 22. Scoring was begun when Ellis, of Dartmouth, caged a free throw for a single point, but Evans, of Princeton, soon put his team in the lead with a long basket thrown from scrimmage. A basket by Hein put the Green team once more a single point ahead of the visitors, but Evans again counted for Princeton, this time from the foul line, and knotted the score. Another successful free throw was scored by Gartner, who, a moment later, added two points from the floor to give the Tiger team a three point advantage. Ellis scored once more for Dartmouth from the free throw line, and Vossler tallied from scrimmage to bring the score to six all. Again Evans put his team in the lead when he scored on a pass from Miles, but Dartmouth came abreast of the Princeton team, Hein scoring two points on a quick shot from mid-court. Dartmouth then assumed a three point lead after a short time-out, Vossler making a successful attempt on a foul shot and Hein gathering two more points from the side of the floor. Foot and Gartner scored free throws for Princeton and Alexander added two more points to recapture the lead. Another free shot by Gartner gave Princeton the advantage at 13 to 11. As the period closed Hein scored from the floor a basket which tied the score for Dartmouth.

Dartmouth's attack in the second period was more than attack; it was an onslaught, Heep starting the scoring with a foul shot and two baskets in quick succession to give the Green a lead of 18 to 13. Captain Picken's men began to find the basket with regularity and bewildered the Princeton players with swift scoring which soon raised the score to 26 to 14. From this point onward the outcome of the contest was never in doubt, and though Evans started several rallies for the visiting team the Dartmouth players were able to check these and to continue scoring until the final bell.

Hein, of Dartmouth, and Evans, of Princeton, each of whom scored 12 points were the leaders in offensive work, with Austin, of Dartmouth and Gartner of Princeton, following, the former accounting for eight points and the latter for seven. Heep scored five points for Dartmouth, Picken four, Vossler three, and Ellis two. For Princeton Foote scored three points, Alexander two, and McCullough one.

Dartmouth 44—8. U. 30

Resuming its scheduled games after the conclusion of the examination period the Dartmouth team had little difficulty in winning from Boston University 'by a score of 40 to 33 in Alumni Gymnasium February 9. The Green five grasped the scoring lead during the opening minutes of play and throughout the remainder of the encounter kept well ahead of the Massachusetts men. The varsity outfit having taken the score to a 26 to 10 lead over the visitors by the end of the first half of the game coach Wachter started a second combination against Boston for the final half. The regular quintet was soon called upon to see action again, however, when four successive goals from scrimmage had brought the B. U. score to 20 points. Thereafter Boston never threatened, the regulars, led by Heep, carrying the score to 44 points.

Heep, -who scored 16 of the Dartmouth team's points during the evening was easily the outstanding figure of the game. Smith, was second highest scorer and led the Boston attack with a total of 10 points. Other scorers were, for Dartmouth: Hein, nine points; Vossler six, Austin and Langdell four, Bunge two, and Picken, Oliver. and Ellis one each. For Boston Cohen scored six points, O'Brien five, August three, and Cotter and Bartlett two each.

Dartmouth 40—Harvard 29

Harvard's basketball team as usual provided the opposition for Dartmouth in the game scheduled as the feature of the Winter Carnival sport card, but was unable to retain the lead gained at the opening of the affair and forced to succumb to a Hanover rally which carried the Green team to a 44 to 29 victory. The game was played in Alumni Gymnasium February 12. A free throw by Leekley and a short goal from scrimmage by Green opened the scoring for the Crimson team which gathered eight points before the Dartmouth five could get into scoring stride. Austin then started the Dartmouth ball rolling with a pretty shot from the floor. Free throws by Heep, Langdell, Hein, and Picken, a field goal by Langdell, and three long shots in succession by Heep followed Austin's tally and put Dartmouth ahead by a score of 14 to 8. The Harvard team was never able to recapture the lead.

Leekley again started the Harvard scoring at the opening of the second half of the game and led a brisk rally which brought the Cantabrigians to within one point of Captain Picken's men at 24 to 23. Here the Hanover team again took command of the situation and rolled the score to 40 points while holding Harvard to but six more.

As in the game with Boston University Heep featured the Dartmouth scoring play, gathering a total of 15 points. Leekley, of Harvard, also scored IS points. Following Heep Captain Picken scored six points for Dartmouth, Vossler and Hein four each, Langdell three, and Austin and Ellis two apiece. For Harvard Dorn, Green, and Mallick scored four points each and Barbee two.

Dartmouth 35—Yale 20

Playing its fifth successive home game in Alumni Gymnasium February 16 the Dartmouth quintet handily defeated Yale by a score of 35 to 20 in a game whose outcome was never in doubt. The Green team led by Captain Picken started a scoring rush as the game opened which swept the New Haven defense out of almost every play and ran up a lead of 23 points to 8 before the half was ended. Although Yale rallied to score 12 points during the second half of the game the Dartmouth team kept abreast of the rally and also scored 12 points.

For Dartmouth Vossler scored 11 points, Austin six, Heep five, Picken, Hein and Ellis four each, and Spaeth one. For Yale Billhart scored seven points, Simmen six, McNulty three, and Carmody and Brockelman two each.
