Mrs. Louise McMahon Campbell, widow of the late Professor Gabriel Campbell for 40 years professor of philosophy in Dartmouth, died at her home on College street February 9, having been in frail health for some time.
Mrs. Campbell was born of Scotch-Irish parentage in Manchester, Mich., September 9, 1844. She was a graduate of the Michigan Normal school, Ypsilanti, where she met and became engaged to Professor Campbell, whom she married on his return from the Civil War, September 20, 1865. Their home was in Chicago while Captain Campbell was taking his theological course, then successively at the University of Minnesota, Bowdoin College, .and for the last 44 years in Hanover, Six children were born, of whom two survive, Edith C. Campbell of Hanover, and Louis J. Campbell, Dartmouth 1891, of Everett, Wash.
