APRIL, 1927

The Dartmouth Symphony Orchestra appeared in its first concert of the year under the direction of Professor F. M. Longhurst in Webster Hall March 6, its program being enthusiastically received by the audience of townspeople, faculty members, and students gathered for the occasion. The orchestra's program included the overture to "The Magic Flute" by Mozart, Brahms' Fourth Symphony,

and "Piano Concerto in G Minor" by Saint- Saens, played by Robert Riotte '26. Assisting the members of the Hanover orchestra were several musicians from the Boston Symphony Orchestra; Max Kunze, bass; W. Vaekenier, C. Vondenberg, and C. Gebhardt, horns; H. Eikilens, violin; G. Gebhardt, bass; M. Deverge and H. Stanislaus, oboes; and C. Bettney, basson.

Under Professor Longhurst the Hanover Symphony Orchestra has won for itself an enviable reputation that is more than local and its most recent concert delighted the entire Hanover community.
