All sorts of tournaments and competitions were held within the College last month and some are still to be completed. 1929 scampered away with the interclass hockey title just before the warm weather took away the last of the skating ice on Occom Pond. South Hall worked its way to the top of the interdormitory basketball league over a number of strong quintets.
J. R. Earle and J. L. Morrison were the high scoring pair in the freshman bridge tournament in College Hall. The fraternities are still busy with the play-off of their pasteboard tournament and the sport has found a number of followers on the campus, judging from the 13-on-suit hands which are being reported.
Dartmouth placed fifth trailing Wesleyan, Missouri, Yale and Middlebury in the national intercollegiate glee club contest held in Carnegie Hall last month. The Glee Club is planning an extensive tour during the Spring vacation which will carry them to New York, Washington, Chicago and several other cities enroute.
Palaeopitus has made several regulations regarding the granting of train and food concessions on the various Dartmouth specials both to and from College before and after vacations. Hereafter, a full report of all financial transactions must be made and each member of the concession committee must post a $50 bond to be forfeited in case of any infraction of the new rules.
Some statistically minded heeler for TheDartmouth has determined with the local postmaster that 25,000 letters come to Hanover every week, an average of 12 to each student but of course the Ad Building's mail was not discounted. Furthermore, every student receives on the average of 12 pounds of clean clothes every week. This is an irrelevant thought, but a fit one to close on perhaps.
