The recent death of James P. Gilman of the class of '61 removes the third oldest from among the living graduates of the College. An examination of the records shows that fourteen graduates of classes from 1859 to 1865 are now living who were born previous to 1840. It should be noted that Mr. Jackman, the oldest graduate, was born July 20, 1831, and is therefore now in his ninety-sixth year. The list in order of seniority follows: Samuel H. Jackman '60, Sacramento, California Rev. John W. Hayley '60, Center Tuftonboro, New Hampshire John Scales '63, Dover, New Hampshire James W. Perkins '64, Newburyport, Massachusetts Eri D. Woodbury '63, Cheshire, Connecticut Dr. Joseph W. Grosvenor '59, Buffalo, New York Galen B. Seaman '61, Daytona, Florida John W. Milligan '62, Swissvale, Pennsylvania George J. Cummings '69, Andover, Massachusetts Maitland C. Lamprey '63, Concord, New Hampshire George R. Williams '65, Oakland, California Rodney G. Chase '64, West Medford, Massachusetts Edward D. Redington '61, Evanston, Illinois George A. Bruce '61, Brookline, Massachusetts It is perhaps of equal interest to note the seniority list in terms of the year of graduation. The class of 1859 is the oldest class having living representatives and aside from those noted above the following representatives of the five earliest classes, that is, from 1859 to 1863, should be recorded: Roger S. Greene '59, Oakland, California Frederick W. Eveleth '62, Jersey City, New Jersey Benjamin McLeran '62, San Diego, California Rev. Joseph R. Milligan '62, Evanston, Illinois Edward Tuck '62, Paris, France Barton F. Blake '63, Merion, Pennsylvania Zeeb Gilman '63, Redlands, California Rev. Azel W. Hazen '63, Middletown, Connecticut Charles W. Spalding '63, Blackfoot, Idaho
