Although Harris, who pitched for Dartmouth, allowed only one hit during the first four innings of the Green teams encounter with the Springfield College nine, he was unable to continue effective and the Massachusetts collegians pinned an 8 to 2 defeat on the men from Hanover. Erickson, pitching for Springfield, was touched for only five Dartmouth hits, two of these being mere scratches, and after the first inning had the Green team well in hand throughout the game. In the sixth inning Springfield's timely hits combined with seven Dartmouth errors to produce a lead that Dartmouth was never able to meet.
