CLASS OF 1887

The Pomona College Magazine prints in the issue of last March the address of Acting President Frank P. Brackett to the mid-year graduating class. The title of the address is "An Evaluation of the College Degree." The editorial page carries an appreciation of Professor Brackett's four decades of untiring services to Pomona, covering Pomona's entire existence. The tribute ends as follows: "A painstaking and inspiring teacher, a careful and accurate scientist, a promoter and example of the highest ideals of scholarship and life, a sincere and loyal friend, a Christian gentleman. Pomona delights to do him honor!"

The Los Angeles First National Trust and Savings Bank has recently published a book- let on "Farm Loan Procedure and the Basis for Determining Loan Values." It was prepared by Prof. George W. Shaw, the supervisor of the farm loan division of the mortgage department of the bank.
