A meeting of the Trustees of Dartmouth College was held in their room in the Parkhurst Administration Building, in Hanover, New Hampshire, on the 29th and 30th days of October, 1928.
There were present the President and Messrs. Spaulding, Parkhurst, Thayer, Brown, Little, Howland, Dußois, Tuttle, Knight and Gray.
In the absence of the Clerk, Mr. Gray was elected Clerk pro tem.
STANDING COMMITTEES
The President announced that the membership of the Standing Committees of the Trustees for the year 1928-1929 would remain the same as for the past year.
FACULTY HOUSING
Voted: That the Committee on Physical Development and Maintenance of the Plant be authorized to expend $75,000 for'the construction of faculty housing for eight families, this to be ready for occupancy at the beginning of the fall term, 1929.
RECONSTRUCTION OF REED HALL
Voted: That the Committee on Physical Development and Maintenance of the Plant be authorized to expend $lOO,OOO in the reconstruction of Reed Hall into a fire-proof building.

DIRECTORY OF LIVING ALUMNI
The President raised the question of the advisability of publishing a new edition of the Directory of Living Alumni. Without formal action, it was agreed that the Alumni Council might profitably be consulted in the matter.
INVESTIGATION OF SCHOLARSHIP SYSTEM
The President explained the need for an exhaustive study of the scholarship system and announced that arrangements had been made with Professor Tapley for the conduct of such an investigation.
The President reviewed the condition of the College, with special reference to the gratifying trend in student attitudes, conduct and quality of work, and pointed out the pressing need for an adequate auditorium and a building for a student union.
SOCIAL SCIENCE RESEARCH COUNCIL
The President presented a letter conveying a vote of thanks by the Social Science Research Council for the hospitality extended the Council on the occasion of its annual sessions in Hanover.
GIFTS The President announced that appreciative acknowledgment had been made of the following gifts to the College: From a member of the class of 1879 for public lectures, $5,000.
From Mr. B. S. Ferguson for the development of a Social Science Center in the Baker Library, $lO,OOO.
From Judge Leslie P. Snow 'B6, for the purchase of the bronze statue, "Appeal to the Great Spirit," for the Baker Library, $1,300.
ANNUAL REPORT OF THE TREASURER Mr. Edgerton presented his report as Treasurer for 1927-1928, and, following discussion of the report, it was Voted: That the Report of the Treasurer be accepted and placed on file.
BUDGET FOR 1928-1929 The Treasurer presented the proposed budget for 1928-1929, and it was Voted: That the Budget for 1928-1929, as prepared by the Treasurer and approved by the President, be adopted.
RECEIPT OF FUNDS FOR GIFTS The Treasurer reported that funds for the following gifts had been received: From Mr. Frank P. Carpenter, on account of Carpenter Hall, $50,000. From Mr. B. S. Ferguson, for the Social Science Center, $lO,OOO. From Judge Leslie P. Snow 'B6, for purchase of statue, $1,300.
