The result of the experimental short schedule for the freshman team has been all to the good. Sid Hazelton, coach of the team, has again produced a powerful eleven with a wealth of good substitute material. With only the experience of a game with Clark School in back of them, the freshmen journeyed to Cambridge and met the strong Harvard freshman team on October 26. Harvard presented one of the best freshman teams that she has had in years, and the less experienced Hanover boys were defeated 19-0. The next week, the freshmen showed a sturdy defense and a smooth-working offense in defeating Dean Academy by the score of 13-0. Dean came to Hanover with a fine reputation and since the defeat by the Dartmouth freshmen has scored a well-earned victory over the Army plebes.
On the morning of November 10 the freshman team overwhelmed the Brown freshmen by the score of 46-0. Starting with a run- back of the opening kick-off for a touchdown by McCall, the Dartmouth eleven outplayed Brown in every department of the game and throughout the second half scored almost at will. Not only was the freshman line impregnable on the defense but it also opened up wide holes for the fast-running backs. The result of the careful practice on fundamentals and patient drilling on coordination and timing was very apparent in the smoothness with which the running plays and forward passes were executed by the freshmen.
Among the players who have shown unusual promise of becoming serious contenders for varsity positions next year are: Captain Hoffman, at guard, Yudicky at end, Toothaker at quarterback, and Porter and McCall at right and left halfback respectively.
