Announcement was made on January 1 of the promotion of R. H. Carleton to be assistant general auditor of the Chicago, Rock Island, and Pacific Railway Company. Carleton will have offices in the La Salle St. station. This is very welcome news, showing that Stubby is attaining to very important positions in his railroad career.
The Boston Evening Transcript on December 29 published the picture of Bill Hill, the president of the Amateur Skating Union. He has been appointed manager of the American speed skating team for the Olympic games at St. Moritz in February. Bill has been active in promoting skating in New England for the past twenty years, and yet we do not know that Bill ever skated on thin ice.
The New York Times of December 27 quotes Arthur Ruggles on the curability of dementia praecox. Arthur appears frequently in the public press as an eminent authority in mental hygiene.
The Secretary and Mrs. Elderkin will sail on February 7 for an extended archaeological tour in North Africa, Spain, France, Germany, and Dalmatia. They will return to this country in September.
