During a short stay in Akron, Ohio, early in January, the Secretary stood beside a dignified surgeon of the city who did not break into smiles until reminded of a holiday celebration years ago in the old K.K.K. house, when one Bob Smith applied his subtle genius with great success to the production of champagne by combining ginger ale with hard cider. Bob is in excellent health now in spite of that party.
Farther west the Secretary took passage on one of Stubby's railroads. In the diner was served reindeer steak. Now,' Stubby, the only merit of reindeer steak is that it prevents the consumer from slipping on the ice.
Fred W. Osgood died at Akron, Ohio, on Tuesday, January 6. He had been ill for about a year. Fred entered with our class, but graduated with 1903, and from the Thayer School in 1904. A fuller obituary notice will appear in the Necrology of the next issue of the MAGAZINE.
