Robert M. Leach '02 has announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for the office of Lieutenant-Governor of Massachusetts. Mr. Leach, who is a native of Franklin, New Hampshire, has spent all his business life in Taunton, Massachusetts, where he has been asociated with the Glenwood Range Company, as salesman, sales manager, and treasurer, an office which he now holds. He is president of several large furniture stores in New England and has served as president of the National Association of Stove Manufacturers, director of the Bristol County Trust Company, trustee of the Taunton Savings Bank and treasurer of the Morton Hospital. He was also the donor of the Walker Memorial Park in memory of his father-in-law, William E. Walker, to the city of Taunton. During the World War he served as Captain in the United States Army and was assigned to the Ordnance Division and has also been Commander of the Taunton Post of the American Legion. He was elected to fill the unexpired term of the late Honorable William S. Greene in the 68th United States Congress, being elected over his opponent by a large majority. A son, Walker, graduated from Dartmouth with the class of 1923.
