D. C. A. Changes Purpose
MARCH, 1928

The Dartmouth Christian Association has decided to change the purpose of the organization, making it dynamic and not static. The following letter has been sent to all D. C. A. members :

"During the last two months the board and cabinet have been conscious of the dissatisfaction with the old statement of purpose in its creedal form and the desire for a more dynamic statement which would adequately meet the real demands of campus life.

"At the last regular meeting on February 14, they voted to replace' the old purpose: 'lt is the purpose of the Dartmouth Christian Association to acknowledge Christ and to try to follow His teachings, interpreting His teachings to mean, you must love the Lord your God with your whole heart, your whole soul and your whole mind and you must love your neighbor as yourself,' by the following 'The purpose of the Dartmouth Christian Association is to bring together those students who are seeking to find the place of religion in life and tc find adequate ways of expressing the spirit and insights of Jesus in their own lives and in the life of the College.'

"It is felt that the new purpose has four significant attributes. It is functional: defines the group and the nature of the group aims. It is dynamic, for it demands a thinking attitude with opportunity for growth. It is liberal, for it allows individual interpretations. And finally, the new purpose is personal, committing the members to an individual responsibility.

"If you are in sympathy with this plan ot procedure will you p'lease register your approval bv sio'nino- the enclosed card and sending it to the D. C. A. office. Any helpful suggestions you may have for our future program we shall be most glad to receive."
