Dartmouth jumped into the lead in the Intercollegiate League basketball race on February 16 by virtue of a one point win over Pennsylvania at Philadelphia. The first half found the Dartmouth team ready and eager to make every point count and a comfortable lead of 17 to 9 was set up during this period. Penn. came back with a rush in the second half and took the lead at 29 to 28 with but one minute to play. Austin, brilliant Dartmouth guard, slipped through the defense just before the whistle blew and scored a field goal to give the victory to Dartmouth. After the game a protest was made by the Pennsylvania authorities who claimed that a foul scored by Schaaf, the Penn. star, had not been recorded and that the correct score was tied at 30 all. This would have meant an overtime period of five minutes and on the basis of this protest there is still doubt as to whether the game will have to be played over at the conclusion of the season.
