BALZAC FIRST EDITIONS PRESENTED TO COLLEGE

The Baker Library has received from Thomas W. Streeter 'O4 a very fine collection of first editions of the works of Balzac. There are twenty-six titles by Balzac in this collection and in addition there are twenty-five books dealing with Balzac and his work. The first editions of Balzac in this collection were nearly all printed in Belgium. The books are in the oringial printed paper wrappers but are preserved in morocco protecting cases made especially for them by Mr. Streeter. This collection is a most valuable addition to the library and will be installed in the treasure room.
