1928 ALUMNI FUND GOAL OVERSUBSCRIBED
AUGUST, 1928

The 1928 Dartmouth Alumni Fund campaign has ended successfully and the goal of $115,000 has been substantially exceeded. The final figure for the total of subscriptions in the drive just closed is $120,417.44. Thirty classes have reached or exceeded their class quotas as may be seen in the following report of final class standings. To the class agents goes the praise for accomplishing this very difficult task of raising the big quota since it is only through the successful completion of the individual class campaigns that the drive as a whole can be successful.

Equally gratifying is the record of contributors for this year. In the Fund campaign last year 5,327 alumni made contributions and this year 5,504 alumni are listed among the contributors. It is just as desirable to keep the percentage of contributors on the increase as it is to raise the full amount of the quota each year. To have reached both these goals in the 1928 campaign is an achievement of which the alumni may all very well be proud.

The continuing alumni support given to those responsible for Dartmouth's progress is one big reason why Dartmouth College stands as it does in America today. This continuing and increasing support of Dartmouth alumni for their Alma Mater cannot be measured in dollars and cents. That the Alumni Fund is "the lifeblood of the College" is as true as the statement that the Fund is "indispensable to Dartmouth's progress."

Another milestone has been reached in Alumni Fund history. Failing to reach a quota of $115,000 last year, the same goal was set for 1928. And in the campaign just ended the alumni have oversubscribed that goal by more than $5,000 without any seeming pressure upon any classes or individuals. This is a glorious finish to a year which has been more fruitful to the College financially than any other similar period in Dartmouth history. May the Alumni Fund take the lead in years to come as the foremost and guiding factor in the new and greater Dartmouth!
