JOHN AULIS DIES
AUGUST, 1928

John W. Aulis, who has been manager of Freshman Commons for the past twenty-five years, died suddenly May 29 as a result of a cerebral hemhorrage. Mrs. Aulis died about two' weeks previous.

Mr. Aulis has been in intimate contact with generations of Dartmouth men and has been of great assistance to hundreds of Dartmouth students who have been in his employ while earning their way through college.

A. P. Fairfield, manager of the Hanover Inn, in speaking of his former assistant and friend of the past quarter century said, "He filled with notable success a most difficult position. His honesty and reliability were outstanding features of his character, and I, perhaps more than any other person, knew his fidelity to the interests of Dartmouth College, and the genuine interest he took in the welfare of Dartmouth students."

Mr. Aulis came to Hanover in 1902, the year that Freshman Commons was inaugurated, and was appointed assistant manager. Mr. Aulis is survived by two sons, C. E. Aulis of Hanover, and C. H. Aulis of Putnam, Conn. He is also survived by three brothers and a sister, Mrs. J. A. Longstead of Littleton, N. H.
