Dartmouth was the host to the first annual summer meeting of the Botanical Society of America from June 20-28 th. The gathering was organized by the members of the Botany department and other botanists in Hanover and about 100 persons enjoyed the informal discussions and field trips. Most of the visitors came in their own cars and from as far distant points as Alabama and Wisconsin. The Dartmouth graduates and teachers took prominent parts in the meeting. Dr. Wm. H. Weston, 'll, of Harvard led the round-table discussion on Fungi and Plant Diseases while Dr. A. P. Hill, 'lO, of Yale did the same for Systematic Botany and Ecology. Other Dartmouth men present included Dr. Carl Hoar, 'll of Williams, Profs. A. H. Chivers, 'O2 and F. S. Page, 'l3 of the Dartmouth Botany department, Prof. Harold G. Kugg, 'O6 of the Library, W. T. McLaughlin, '25, and Dr. F. P. Lord, '9B of the Medical School. Profs. Lyon and Wilson led field trips to the Bottomless Pit and Holt's Ledge while Dr. Lord guided the party up Mt. Moosilauke where the Outing Club crew served a fine noon meal.

The visitors expressed their appreciation of the new Natural Science Building in which the meetings were held, the Clement Greenhouse, the Library and all the other facilities which were placed at their disposal.
